SPECIALIZING IN SOLVING PROBLEMS

In 1978, Sandy McLeod and his beloved were driving down the freeway trying to figure out what to name their new international aircraft sales and fixed base maintenance and support services company. The ultimate goal was to communicate with everyone in the industry, much like an air traffic controller perched high in the control tower. And so began Tower Aerospace Inc.

In the last 33 years, Tower Aerospace has grown to provide more service support including heavy jet and business aircraft parts and component support and major international airline support in 27 different countries.

Though Tower Aerospace has engineering and design departments as well as the ability to manufacture an entire airplane, the company focuses more on parts. For example, the company is responsible for the fuel shut-off system for the venerable DC-3.

The company deals with helicopters as well. Tower Aerospace has designed and manufactured helicopter-mounted firefighting tanker delivery systems and internally and externally mounted fuel systems that provide extra fuel for extended flight operations.

Tower Aerospace really does communicate with every part of the air industry. The list of its capabilities seems endless. From custom machining, to systems assembly and manufacturing, to electronic systems design and manufacturing, to sourcing and purchasing (allowing the company to find or manufacture hard to find, exotic, very old, or lost components for customers), to emergency response (ensuring that when an aircraft was down due to a missing part, it didn’t stay down for long), McLeod says that “when someone can’t find something, if it’s been modified or changed or the design has changed, we can solve that problem for them.”
