Having just survived another winter, we can all attest to just how bad the roads in Canada can get. Ice, unplowed roads and laws often force truckers to install chains on their tires. Thankfully, there are companies like Star Fabrication Ltd. that produce a dozen different types of chain hangers for storing the chains. The manufactured chain hangers can be stationary or retractable, come with an aluminum tread plate cover to meet tie-down regulations, and are easy to clean through the open-bottom design.

Star Fabrication also produces 60 different light boxes for use in the transportation industry. The boxes are made from steel, stainless steel or aluminium and comply with industry requirements.

While Star Fabrication is known for the light boxes and chain hangers, it also does custom fabrication. In the past, the company has manufactured truck rig-ups and service bodies, oilfield tanks, aluminum boats for the Arctic, egg dryers for the Pacific Coast, mud tanks, generator shacks, structural building frameworks and ornamental works such as railings and small walking bridges.

The company is also involved with Centre for Research & Innovation where it has been working with other companies to develop new products that will be going on the market. They have worked on some excavating buckets as well as some projects that haven’t gone public just yet. Pete Toews, Sales Manager is excited about the new products, “We’ve been spearheading some of the tasks with other private individuals, bringing their dreams to reality that way.”

Star Fabrication is located in the small northwestern Alberta community of Crooked Creek, between Valleyview and Grande Prairie.
